The arch has been often used by different civilizations for doors and windows but also in various designs in order to express the idea of motion. The bow spire, one of the most important elements of Islamic architecture, has been applied in the portal design with 4 brackets overlapping and directed toward demonstrating the entry or exit to the city.

This concept has also been applied in the design of the project from the Anbar province. The 4 cities that it contains are suggested by a four arch rise, each arc being composed of two parts. Each part symbolizes two cities of al-Anbar cities put together to an-nounce the beginning of the journey to the inside.
